Analysis of Kiss Me Deadly
Cinematography
We firstly see a shot of a woman's feet, she is running; by the sound of her breathing and the fact that she is running in bare feet shows that she could be running from someone of something. We are also looking down on this woman to show that she is a lower status. We then see the mid shot of the woman as we want to know what the person looks like after seeing her running bare feet. When we see the mid shot of this woman we can see from her facial expression and the way she is breathing that she is in distress. During this time we see an establishing shot of where the woman is because we want to know what is going on and there is a small light in this establishing shot which shows that she could be running from that. We keep seeing mid shots of this woman's feet and face as cars drive past her when she is trying to stop them to get a lift. There is then the establishing shot of when the woman stands in front of a car to get it to stop and we can only see the outline of the woman because the lights of the car are shining on her. Also this shot shows that she is in the rule of thirds. While seeing the shots of the woman and man it looks as if this is a third person watching this. The woman then gets into the car with the man and this starts to show a lot of two shots as we see the man and woman talking a lot of the time. When the titles start to appear we see the back of the heads of the man and woman which is showing not only a two shot but also a point of view shot.
Mise-en-scene
The costume of the woman shows that she is wearing nothing but a trench coat, this shows that something could have happened to her for her to be wearing nothing but a trench coat. We can tell that the woman is wearing nothing but a trench coat because of when we see the shots of her running in bare feet and also the man in the car says something to her about it. The colour choices of this film are very dull as this film is in black and white. We can see in this film that this is at night time and also outside. The facial expressions that the woman keeps showing shows that she is in distress and that she wants help. The location of this seems to be in the middle of nowhere and the man did say something about her escaping from a mental institution which would most likely be in the middle of nowhere. The fact that this woman is running in bare feet shows that she really wants to get away from something as her feet could be cut up. The white car that the man is driving could mean that he is her hero, it could mean another meaning of him being her hero on a white horse.
Editing
The cutting of the shots is fast when we see the woman's running feet and then it goes to a shot of the woman's face. The titles slide onto the screen and fade in, this looks like the end of the film as there are so many titles being shown. By most of the titles being shown at the beginning which looks like the ending could mean that the film may start with a bit of the ending first. The titles also only show the main actors and the main people to do with this production. There are some slow paced shots, for example; when the woman is walking to the man's car and is also in distress. We also see shot/reverse shot when the man is looking at the woman and the woman is looking at the man.
Sound
We hear the non-diegetic of the music playing with a woman crying in the background when the titles appear. The dialogue when the man and woman are talking is quite snappy, you need to pay attention to know what they are saying. The noises that the woman makes when she is running and when she is in the car show that she is in distress as she is crying. The amound of panting and breathing the woman does shows that she has been running for a long time. From what the officers say to the man and woman we know that this woman has escaped from a mental instituation.
Story - How the opening sets it?
The opening sets the story as we find out that the woman has escaped from a mental instituation and we know what the woman is obviously running from. Also the man picking the woman up in the car could show that he is also a key character in this film.
How the opening suggests the genre (thriller)
The opening suggests that the film is a thriller as we firstly see the woman running, showing that she is running from someone or something. In most thrillers we see that there is a 'baddie' and this could be the person or thing that she is running from. Also the fact that this seems to be in the middle of nowhere shows that this is a thriller.

Analysis of Wallander
The cutting of the shots of when we see the two girl's and then the wounded man in the car are quite fast, this could be to show that they are linked to what has just happened to the man in the car. The titles seem to slide onto the screen with a brightly coloured background. We see shot/reverse shot happening when the man is talking to the police woman. The cutting of the shots is very fast when we get to the interviewing room as we have snappy shots of the people individually.

Analysis of Brick
Cinematography
We firstly see a close-up of someone's jeans and shoes, this could be significant to the story. We then see an extreme close-up of a boys eyes which is unsettling because we do not know what he is looking at till the next shot. There is then an establishing shot of the boy looking at the dead girl, at this point the audience could be wondering this this boy kill the girl. We then see a low angle shot and mid-shot of the boys face again, he is still looking at this girl. We then see a shot of the girls legs, this is shown in a mid-shot. We once again see another shot of the boy looking at something else on the girl, we see this shot going from a mid-shot closer and closer to his face. We then see a mid-shot going into a close-up of the girls face which is covered in her hair, this then goes back to a mid-shot of the boy looking at her still. We then finally see a mid-shot of her bracelet which goes into another mid-shot of the girl wearing the bracelet and putting a note through a locker when she was alive, still wearing the clothes that she is seen to be dead in. When we saw the shots of the boy looking at the girl and then see a part of the girl it was like we were seeing what the boy was looking at and thinking about while looking at the girl, this was also match on action. Once we have seen the mid-shot of the bracelet on the girls arm alive we then see the title appear on the screen in bold letters with a black background while zooming out. We then see the title of 'two days previous' also in bold letters and a mid-shot going into a close-up of yet again the same person's jeans and shoes which we saw at the beginning walking down a school hallway. We then see an establishing shot of the boy looking around while at his locker. There is then a close-up of the letter that was put into this boys locker. We see a close-up of the boys watch when he is looking at it because it shows that the person who was meant to meet him is half an hour late. Once again we see an establishing shot of where the boy is and this time it looks like he is on the motorway although there is a telephone box there. We then see a low angle shot of the boy talking to a mysterious person on the phone. We then see a pan shot of the boy looking around trying to see where this person is watching him from. We then see a low angle and a close-up shot of a person throwing a cigarette out of the car which is a key thing. Finally there is a close-up of the cigarette which shows an arrow on it which is a key thing.
Mise-en-scene
There are some brightly coloured costumes within this film, although we see the dead girl wearing dirty clothes they are still brightly coloured. The costume of the dead girl shows that she could have been going out somewhere nice. The dead girl is also wearing a bracelet which looks like a cheap piece of jewellery but also seems to be a key shot within the film. We go from seeing the dead girl in the costume that is all muddy to seeing the girl alive with the same costume but the costume is bright and clean. The location of where the dead girl is, is in a storm drain. In the next scene the location is set within what looks like a school as we can see the lockers and the school bell ringing. We then go to the next scene of the when the boy is sitting on a pavement and it looks as if he is in a deserted place, this is quite a light place with bright colours. The boy is still wearing the same costume as the last time we saw him which was at the scene where the girl is dead.
Editing
The editing for this film has quite slow paced shots at the beginning when the boy looks at the girl's dead body. The cutting of the shots are quite fast when we get to the point of when the boy has just ran out of the telephone box while looking at someone drive past a quite a speed and throwing a ciggarette out of the window which is a clue.
SoundThe sound at the beginning of the film is non-diegetic and also very uneasy as it is creepy music playing in the background while the boy is just staring at the dead girl. We then hear a bell, perhaps a school bell which then takes us to the next scene of when the girl is alive. The sound becomes diegetic after the bell rings. We the hear the telephone ringing in the scene where it looks like the place is deserted. We then hear the panicked dialogue of a girl who does'nt know what she is going to do, this is the beginning of finding out what is going on in the film.
Story - How the opening sets it
A sort of lonely person's ex-girlfriend goes missing and so the boy sets out to find how and why she died. We see from the beginning the girl dead and so it goes back to two days later and shows you what happened for her to have died.
How the opening suggests the genre (thriller)
The opening suggests the genre as it looks as if it is part of the end of the film but placed at the start of the film. Also the opening lets us see a dead girl with a boy looking and watching this girl which shows the film to be a thriller as this is at the beginning of the film.
Analysis of Double Indemnity
Cinematography
We firstly see the opening credits to the film when the title 'Double Indemnity' appears on our screens with a man in the background without a face it walking with a limp. The title is shown in the centre of the frame as a mid-shot. We then see an establishing shot of where the film is set which is in Los Angeles. In this establishing shot we see the car speeding somewhere nearly hitting the workers, this could make the audience wonder what his hurry is. We then see this unknown person in this car still speeding along the road ignoring a stop sign, this is shown in a long-shot. Still this unknown person which we find is a man steps out of his car in a high angle shot to start walking into an office like building. Another person steps into the scene when we see a mid-shot of the man wanting the get into this building by knocking on the window. The short man takes yet again this unknown man as we still have not seen his face to an elevator which is shown in a mid-shot and we only see the back of their heads at this moment. We then see this man walking through a hall to a door which tells the audience what sort of place this is, this is an insurance company. We see the man walking through the hall in the centre of the frame in yet again another mid-shot. There is then a high angle shot of loads of desks where the man works which show that it is nearly empty and not the time for employees to still be there and this could make the audience wonder why the man is there if there are no employees there. Finally we see a high angle shot of the man looking at a bullet wound on his shoulder, this could make the audience wonder why and how he got this bullet wound. This man who was unknown is now known by the viewers as Mr Neth.
Mise-en-scene
The film is set in Los Angeles, we know this because we saw a sign saying this at the beginning of the film. The costumes worn by Mr Neth show that he is a business man and that is also backed up by the fact that we see a sign on the door saying 'Insurance'. The location changes from the man speeding on the road outside to be inside an elevator to being in an office. The colours of this film are very dull as the film is made in black and white showing the viewer that the film is very old. Some of the facial expressions shown by Mr Neth could say that he is in some sort of distress and could be worried about something as well as being in a hurry to get somewhere. The positioning of the subject was in the centre when the man was walking through the door that has the insurance sign on it.
Editing
Sound
The sound is non-diegetic as we do not hear any outside things such as cars and people talking but only the music which sets the mood and atmosphere of being quite scary. The dialogue starts to come into the film when the short man is opening the doors for Mr Neth and starts to greet the man. The music to this film is quite gloomy, I think this could be because it is an old film.
Story - How the opening sets the story up
When we first see the man speeding down the road in the car we automatically think what is this person's hurry. We then see the man going to the office where he chats a little with another man, just being friendly. He then goes to his office late at night this is and reveals to the audience that he has a gun shot wound to his should, making the audience wonder how and why the man got this. The man then decides to get a piece of electrical equipment and make a confession. The sets the story up because we see that what this man's confession is has got him shot and that he and other people could be in some sort of trouble.
How the opening suggests the genre (thriller)
The opening suggests the genre is being fulfilled here because the audience are a bit puzzled about what is going on, why the man is speeding, why the man is at work so late and why the man has a gun shot wound to his shoulder. As we do not really understand what is going on it suggests the genre because what is going on is mysterious and scary.

Analyse an opening sequence from your genre - Spider-Man 2
We firstly see the 'Marvel' title flashing onto our screens in the centre of the frame as a mid-shot. The titles begin to show on the screen, also in a mid-shot and in the centre of the frame. The 'Spider-Man 2' title then appears on our screens after shots of spider webs, once again the title being a mid-shot and in the centre of the frame. We then come into the cartoon shots of Spider-Man and other characters to show who is starring in the film. We see a close-up of the main character in his human self. There is then a head shot of a girl, also another key character in the film. Also the viewer will then see a shot of what we can only think of as a bad guy, this is shown in a mid-shot. We see a shot of Spider-Man/Peter in the centre of the frame in a mid-shot, we also see a low angle shot of Spider-Man looking somewhere. All of these shots are showing the story of who is in the film and also how Peter became Spider-Man from the beginning of the opening sequence.
Mise-en-scene
There is no current setting or location for this opening sequence as there is only shots of the characters and credits. The colours of this opening sequence are quite bright and the colour of red could mean danger. The colour of white when we see a shot of the girl in a white light could mean that she is good. There is also the colour blue, the colours blue and red are shown as they are the colours of Spider-Man's outfit. The positioning of the subjects are always either the centre of the frame or at the side of the frame. The body language of the characters are that they are always just looking of into the distance and their facial expressions also show that.
Editing
The shots of this opening sequence are quite slow paced and this could also be classed a slow motion. The cutting is also quite slow and the only visual effects shown are the spider webs being shown. There is not any match on action or shot/reverse shot within this opening sequence. The titles also fade onto the screen and also the title of 'Spider-Man 2' flies onto the screen.
Sound
The sound for this opening sequence is non-diagetic and there is also no dialogue within this. There are no voice overs or any sound effects. The music went well for the opening sequence because it was as if the music was say how amazing this masked hero is.
Analyse an opening sequence from your genre - Casino Royale
We first see a man attempting to shoot who I can only say could be James Bond, after this it goes into a long shot of James Bond himself looking directly at the camera in the centre of the frame shooting. Titles then start to appear, also directly in the centre of the frame, we can see the titles as a mid-shot. We go along the opening sequence to see James Bond in a mid-shot fixing his gun and looking away from the camera. We then see the next shot of him in an extreme long shot as he stands up, also with his gun. We see a lot of close-ups and mid-shots of guns to show that, that particular weapon is his main prop. We then come to a bit where their is a birds eye view of two people, perhaps men fighting which goes into a mid-shot. There is then another shot of someone falling which goes from a close-up to a mid-shot to a long-shot. After we see a low angle shot of once again two men fighting, obviously one of them being James Bond himself. The viewer will also see many mid-shot of the queen and king from cards.
Mise-en-scene
There is not really a setting or location for this particular opening sequence but their is a main prop which is a gun as we see many shots of this prop. The costumes are in black and red mainly, black mean a dark person and red meaning blood as well as seeing the queen and king of cards which could mean that this is something to do with gambling and money orientated. The colours are both bright and dark in some places and the positioning of objects in the frames are that sometimes they are put into the centre and sometimes the main prop which is the gun is shown on the sides of the frame. There are no facial expressions within the opening sequence and the body language shows that people are always fighting and doing something like killing someone by the use of the prop, the gun.
Editing
There are slow paced shots at the beginning of the opening sequence and sometimes during the opening sequence by there are also some fast paced shots. The cutting of the opening sequence is quite quick at some points and the visual effects for this opening sequence are that there are no faces being shown and that most things are just in red or black. There is some slow motion when James Bond is fighting with some of the people.
Sound
The sound for this opening sequence is non-diagetic although we sometimes hear the gun being shot in the background at points. The gun being shot at some points in the background could be classed as sound effects. There are no voiceovers and the only dialogue within this opening sequence would be the person singing the song.

Panic Room Opening Sequence
Cinematography
At the beginning of the clip ‘Panic Room’ we see many shots of the location, which is the city. We see many mid shots and close-ups of this opening sequences location, there are many panning shots of the location. By seeing this location the viewer may think that this is where they live or work. The viewer may think that these characters have an office like work-life and that they are boring characters. There are birds eye view shots in this opening sequence to show the location more. There are also high and low angle shots used in this opening sequence, also showing the location more. Also just by showing this particular location could make the viewer think, will it happen outside in a big area like this.
Mise-en-scene
No people or characters have been shown yet so the viewer will not know who they will be watching, all the viewer will know at this point is where the location may be set and that the characters could lead a life in this sort of environment. Having the same shots of a busy place like this can in a way show the viewer of what the character could be like, the character may be a workaholic or they may lead a laid back lifestyle.
Editing
The buildings are shown a lot in this opening sequence and they have been shown not in an order as it does not matter if they are in order because they still look good. There are only good shots of the buildings from different points and the only thing that has been specially done in this opening sequence are the names of the actors being shown on the buildings.
Sound
The sound for this opening sequence starts off very quietly, this could be showing that this is a sad film. The sound is also non-diagetic at this point and slow paced, also the sound can be classed as quite eerie and creepy because it is so quiet, it feels as if something is going to happen, something bad. When we get to the title ‘Panic Room’ the music starts to speed and it starts to get louder as if to say to the viewer ‘yes something is going to happen’.
Watchmen Opening Sequence
Cinematography
At the beginning of the clip of ‘The Watchmen’ we see a mid shot of two men or ‘action heroes’ fighting, showing to the viewer that this movie is an action movie. We then see another mid shot of a woman, showing to the viewer another ‘action hero’. We then see a mid shot of once again an ‘action hero’ who has this time caught a bank robber and is posing for the cameras. So far all of these shots are showing the viewer that there are a number of action heroes that are fighting the bad. We then see a long shot moving into a mid shot of all the ‘action heroes’ posing for the camera, this shows the viewer who all of the ‘action heroes’ are so the viewer won’t get them confused. While these ‘action heroes’ are posing for the camera beneath them we see the title appear. As the viewer is watching, they will see things start to take a turn for the worst as we see a long shot of an ‘action hero’ dead. We also see a panning shot of a ‘hero’ running for a car. The viewer will see from all of these shots and will get the idea that most of these ‘action heroes’ have been found dead or they have become bad and lazy.
Mise-en-scene
We can see from this opening sequence that this film has been set in a different time to present day just by the costumes that the people in the background are wearing. The costumes of the ‘action heroes’ are shown to be very colourful and bright so that they are standing out from the crowd. There is no location or setting of this particular opening sequence, it just shows parts of homes, halls and the city. During the time we see the characters, in the background there are credits being shown in a bright colour, this is so that they are defiantly being seen because they stand out.
Editing
To get the audience hooked into the film we see different shots of different heroes, this would want to make the audience want to know more of what is going on. The viewer will see many clips of the ‘heroes’ which are also shown in the movie itself. We also see that there are many clips in which the rule of thirds is used.
Sound
The sound for this opening sequence seems almost childlike by the fast paced voice singing, the voice sounds as if it has been fast forwarded and the background music to that has not. The sound in the opening sequence is non-diagetic as we cannot hear an people or traffic.
Spider-Man 2
When we first see the opening sequence we see the Marvel pictures flashing on our screens, the viewer will automatically expect this as it is the same for any other Marvel film. The music is also non-diagetic all through these opening credits, we also see along the way the names of the people who are starring in the film and what production the film is made by which would be expected by the viewer. The viewer see's many shots of spider webs leading up to when the title Spider-Man 2 is about to be shown on the screen. The viewers would be hooked in as there are shots showing the viewers of how Spider-Man became who he is and shots of his friends in a comic drawn way which looks good. This opening sequence is very slow paced and creates an atmosphere, but not a scary atmosphere.
The Trailer
You can see from this trailer that it fulfils the things that the viewer wants
to see. The viewer can see what people are starring in it and can also see characters from the previous film so they already know a bit about the storyline. The viewer can see from the trailer that it is the same classic storyline as films made before and after this, it's a baddie trying to get the good guy; Spider-Man. The viewer see's plenty of action - the 'good bits' without anything being given away. In the middle of the trailer we see many shots of the woman and man, going from mid-shot to mid close-up and to a close-up of the man which makes the viewer want to know "what happens next?" The music at some points is non-diagetic but also diagetic throughout the trailer.

Se7en
We watched the opening sequence of the thriller Se7en in class, this thriller showed something; a book perhaps being made. From what was being made showed something sinister going on, during the making of this object we saw many close-ups to show the unnormal things that this person was doing. The music during the opening sequence was non-diagetic and this creepy music seems to draw the viewers in as well as what is going on, on the screen. The sound of the music going on while something sinister is being made draws the viewers in because they want to know more about what is going on, they have questions they want answered, this would make them watch the film.
Se7en Trailer
This trailer gives the viewer an overview of what the story is about. You can see from the trailer that this movie is sinister and shows you 'the good bits' to get the viewer to see the movie and be hooked in. We can also see from the movie trailer who is starring in this thriller movie. The trailer seems very action packed and so this shows the viewers many mid-shots of people.

The Sixth Sense
This is the trailer for The Sixth Sense, as you can see this trailer shows 'the good bits' to get the viewer hooked and to make them want to watch the movie. This trailer gives you an overview of what the story is about and who is starring in this well known thriller. We also watch the opening sequence of the film, the opening sequence showed something sinister going on just by the lighting and the location of a character. The opening sequence was also slow paced, this would make the viewers have questions of 'what is going to happen?', It hooks the viewers in.
Analysis of the Sixth Sense
Memento - Is it a good opening sequence?
I think that Memento is a good opening sequence as all that the viewer wants from an opening sequence they get with this opening sequence. With this opening sequence the viewer will get the titles, be hooked in, feel curious, have questions and feel a certain atmosphere.
We first see the titles appearing onto our screens and to get the viewer hooked in the titles are slow paced with non-diagetic music to set the mood. A hand holding a photograph appears in the background of the title 'Memento' and thats where the viewer see's the hand holding the gruesome photograph in which if the viewer is not already hooked in then they will be now. When we see the hand holding the photo we see a gruesome image which can tell the viewer that the person holding this photo is not a nice character, someone dangerous and someone who's path you do not want to cross. Just at the point of the image of a hand holding a photograph are all slow paced shots until then. We see this hand shaking the photograph as if to get it to appear, accept the photo is disappearing in which could tell the viewer that this is not only a dangerous character but someone who wants to forget this memory.
We then move onto the next slow paced scene of a a man (the main character) with that photograph which the viewer just saw putting the photo back into the camera as this scene is being rewound to show the viewer from the start what happened. This so far ticks the boxes for getting the viewer hooked in and letting the viewer have questions as well as the right kind of mood and atmosphere being created. The above reasons are as to why I think that this is the good and right kind of opening sequence.
Memento - Analysis of the Opening Sequence
The title of the film - when and how does it appear on the screen?
The title of the film first appears in a black background and then the background becomes and image of a hand holding a picture. This hand then starts to shake the picture, although the viewer may think it is to get the picture to appear, it is shown not to be when the picture disappears. The title appears in blue writing and takes up most of the screen as it slowly fades in making the film look a bit creepy.
When and how is the setting/location revealed to the viewer?
The viewer does not really see a setting during this opening sequence as there are so many shots and close-ups of the main actor, we don't see a setting. There is a location shown to the viewer quickly in this opening sequence of a dark gloomy place where a man has just been killed. The setting/location is revealed to the viewer just after we see the close-up of the main character, he is shown to be in a motel room.
Key props - what shot types are used to reveal these to the viewer?
Most of the shots to reveal the props to the viewer are close-ups, for example; there is a close-up of the main characters gun, although it may not be his gun. The viewer will see at the beginning of the opening sequence a close-up of a hand holding a photograph, the viewer can see from this shot that a photograph perhaps could be one of the main props used within this film, this could make the mood a bit scary because if a photograph is taken of most things the viewer may think that the character is a bad guy because he takes photographs of unpleasant sights. There is also a close-up of a camera, also once again showing the viewer that most of this film could be about taking pictures.
Title font, placement and style - how do the actors' names, etc appear on the screen. What are the connotations of the font choice for the titles and credits?
The title font is very bold so it stands out to the viewer and the placement of the title taking up the whole screen also makes it stand out so that the viewer can see it. The titles, credits and actors' names appear on the screen in a blue colour, this makes the writing stand out to the viewer. The title appears on the screen to fade into a black background, because it is such as dark background it makes the mood creepy. The colours of the titles and credits are blue and the connotations associated with this show that this film could be sad as blue is the colour of tears as we know it.
Camera work and Editing
Some of the camera work shows a close-up of a hand holding a photograph which could show the viewer that the person holding this photograph is not a nice person because of the image on the paper. A close-up of a man who has blood down his face could show the viewer that he is either a victim of something or a bad guy at first until we see him with a gun. There is another close-up of a bullet but this is being rewinded as it shows the events in which took place. The opening sequence has quite slow paced shots, during these slow paced shots the viewer will see the event which have just taken place as it rewinds. The cutting of the shots at the beginning is slow paced until we see the shots rewind, the cutting of the shots start to get faster.
How does the opening sequence relate to the rest of the film?
The opening sequence of this film relates to the rest of the film as this shows what has happened between the two characters and what the main character is capable of doing. We can see from this opening sequence that the scenes keep going back in time and so that is what most of the film will be like. Also this opening sequence relates as the event which has just taken place could be what could happen at the end and so we are seeing the ending before the beginning and the rest of the film is showing how this event has come about.
The Four Elements
Cinematography
We see the title 'Memento' appear on the screen and then a person's hand holding a picture in a close-up shot, this close-up of the picture and hand could tell the viewer of what this film includes and by the look of the picture the viewer could get the feel at the beginning that the person holding the picture is not a good person. We then see a close-up of two hands as the picture has just disappeared, the viewer will see that this is being rewound. There is always the close-up of the picture and camera, showing the viewer that most of this film could be about taking pictures, this is a key part in the film. The viewer will then see a close-up of the man, this is the main character. There is then a close-up of blood going back into a wound, this shows that someone has been hurt. The viewer then see's close-ups of a bullet, gun, glasses and a dead man, this all rewinds so the viewer knows what went wrong.
Mise-en-scene
The composition of the titles for this thriller are set in the centre, although we don't see all of the titles in this particular version of the opening sequence. The setting of this opening sequence looks as if it is somewhere that no one would go to, somewhere that no one lives, this shows the viewer why the main character brought the man there as no one goes there. Some of the props used are a camera and gun, these props could make the viewer think; "Are these the key props being used?". The colors during this opening sequence are very dull and dark, this could tell the viewer that this is a dark film. The costume that the dead person is wearing could show that he is a normal everyday person, but the costume that the main character is wearing could show the viewer that this is someone important.
Editing
At the beginning the title is on a black screen and the hand and photo fade onto the screen. This opening sequence has quite slow paced shots and during this opening sequence the viewer will see that the event that has just taken place rewinds to just before the main character shoots the man. The cutting at the beginning is very slow but when we get to the part where the events rewind, then the cutting starts to get a bit faster. Also when the picture is disappearing at the beginning it could represent a memory fading away.
Sound
The sound in this particular opening sequence is non-diagetic, there is also no dialogue until the man who has just been killed says "no". We can also hear the sounds of the camera taking a picture, the gun being shot and at the beginning we can hear the photo being shaken to get rid of the image although it would be someone trying to get the image.

What Does A Title Sequence Look Like? Spider - Man 2 Opening Sequence
What does a title sequence look like?
A title sequence looks like what you can see on the right. This particular title sequence is of Spider-Man 2 which is a thriller film. The mood that the sequence on the right creates is that it is a mystery in some way because if a viewer who had never seen the film before were to see this title sequence then I expect they would be a bit confused and think that the images being shown were a mystery. For the viewers who have seen the first film out of the three films created they would know what is going on and they would know what the title sequence was about, the mood that would be created for them could be excitement because this seems like such an exciting and thrilling film just by the showing of the title sequence.
Some of the shots used are the normal close-ups and long-shots of people or objects. The first image of the 'Marvel' title is placed right in the centre of the screen and is quite large to show viewers of who put their time into this. There is also the shot of the Spider-Man 2 title which is taking up most of the screen and is set right in the centre. As we go along this title sequence we are seeing a story of how this person became Spider-Man and also some of the characters who are in the film. The seventh shot in the sequence shows the bad guy in a close-up whereas in the last shot we see a mid-shot of Spider-Man himself.
I think that this title sequence fits with my genre because it is a thriller film and I am also going to create a thriller film. The film may be able to help give some ideas of what shots could be used in my own thriller film.
As well as being an action and adventure genre, this also has a romantic genre and thriller genre to it.
