Analyse an opening sequence from your genre - Casino Royale

Cinematography
We first see a man attempting to shoot who I can only say could be James Bond, after this it goes into a long shot of James Bond himself looking directly at the camera in the centre of the frame shooting. Titles then start to appear, also directly in the centre of the frame, we can see the titles as a mid-shot. We go along the opening sequence to see James Bond in a mid-shot fixing his gun and looking away from the camera. We then see the next shot of him in an extreme long shot as he stands up, also with his gun. We see a lot of close-ups and mid-shots of guns to show that, that particular weapon is his main prop. We then come to a bit where their is a birds eye view of two people, perhaps men fighting which goes into a mid-shot. There is then another shot of someone falling which goes from a close-up to a mid-shot to a long-shot. After we see a low angle shot of once again two men fighting, obviously one of them being James Bond himself. The viewer will also see many mid-shot of the queen and king from cards.

Mise-en-scene
There is not really a setting or location for this particular opening sequence but their is a main prop which is a gun as we see many shots of this prop. The costumes are in black and red mainly, black mean a dark person and red meaning blood as well as seeing the queen and king of cards which could mean that this is something to do with gambling and money orientated. The colours are both bright and dark in some places and the positioning of objects in the frames are that sometimes they are put into the centre and sometimes the main prop which is the gun is shown on the sides of the frame. There are no facial expressions within the opening sequence and the body language shows that people are always fighting and doing something like killing someone by the use of the prop, the gun.

Editing
There are slow paced shots at the beginning of the opening sequence and sometimes during the opening sequence by there are also some fast paced shots. The cutting of the opening sequence is quite quick at some points and the visual effects for this opening sequence are that there are no faces being shown and that most things are just in red or black. There is some slow motion when James Bond is fighting with some of the people.

Sound
The sound for this opening sequence is non-diagetic although we sometimes hear the gun being shot in the background at points. The gun being shot at some points in the background could be classed as sound effects. There are no voiceovers and the only dialogue within this opening sequence would be the person singing the song.
